“I had someone breaking into my house, messing with my phones, and writing me letters,” said Brotherton. The subject matter for her first book “The Obsession” was inspired by an unfortunate stalking incident that she experienced first-hand while stationed at her first assignment on Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Perpetually goal driven, she obtained an undergraduate degree in psychology from Ohio State University and then a graduate degree from the University of Central Missouri while she was serving as a second lieutenant.
